Split Ends

Split-end is also known as Trichoptilosis in science. In this condition hair fiber splits into two – three strands either near the end of hair or some times in the center or middle of hair.

Hair fiber has a Protective Layer known as “Cuticle” or “Protective Cuticle”. This layer is responsible for keeping hair fiber intact and healthy. Split Ends
Cuticle is also responsible for the shine and lusture of the hair. If this protective layer “Cuticle” is damaged due to some reason or is removed altogether, it results into hair splitting.

Reasons: Main factors responsible for Split End are

»   Chemical Damage (Cheap Detergent, Hair Fixers, Cheap Colours etc.)
»   Lack of Nutrition to Hair
»   Vigorous brushing or combing
»   Over Heating (Non – Scientific use of Hair dryer)
»   Excessive exposure to pollution, dust and sun.

How to Control Split End: Once the Cuticle is removed from hair follicle, it is impossible to replace it. Some factors which may help in controlling Split End.

»   Avoid harsh chemicals and chemical shampoo, immediately.
»   Cheap shampoo can not give you quality cleansing agent.
»   Don’t select shampoo by its colour, fragrance or price.
»   Chemical colours and fragrance of shampoo can damage cuticle of hair.
»   Regular nourishment of hair is must.
