Graying (Canities) is usually a part of the ageing process. However, the greying of hair before the age of 35 years is considered as Premature Graying. |

| A cell present in the hair follicle, known as "Melanocyte" produces a pigment known as "Melanin", which colour the hair shaft. Absence of melanin is considered to be the cause of graying of hair. | |
